DON’T CALL ME VENUS is artist Kristin Zibell‘s collection of her paintings of »Venus« Paleolithic figurines. Archeologists found over 40 figurines and named them all Venus. This work is a confrontation of the limited naming by male, Victorian-era archeologists. This work seeks to individualize each figure and celebrate their form, not as a goddess of fertility, but one of emancipation.
